A sculpture famously part of Banksy’s Dismaland is about to be auctioned off with half the proceeds going to aid the refugees depicted in the art work.
Dream Boat is a coin-operated work that debuted in 2015 as part of Dismaland - a temporary art project in Weston-super-Mare, UK, that was a “sinister twist on Disneyland”. Banksy himself described the pop-up as a “family theme park unsuitable for children.”
The artwork depicts a crowded boat of refugees, which in the original work was chased by a coast guard board when a coin was inserted.
Now up for auction at Miami Art Week, 50% of the sale will benefit Choose Love - an advocacy organisation that provides humanitarian aid to refugees around the world.
