Architects Populous have revealed new images of plans to expand Premier League football club Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, with the plans including a new ‘skybar’ and rooftop walk visitor attraction.
Manchester City said four storey-high LED screens will flank either side of the redeveloped North Stand, while an all-weather fan zone with capacity for 3,000 people sits between a new 400-bedroom hotel and commercial buildings.
“Over several months we have been developing concepts and designs for a best-in-class fan experience and year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad Stadium,” said Manchester City's managing director of operations, Danny Wilson.
“Ensuring our local community benefit is a key priority and we believe these proposals will deliver long-term economic and social opportunities, building on the regeneration work delivered in east Manchester by City Football Group since 2008.”
The expansion of the North Stand will increase stadium capacity by 7,700 seats, bringing total capacity up to 61,958.
