Rock 'n' Roller Coaster closes at Disney World's Hollywood Studios

It’s not the day the music dies, but rather the day the music undergoes a refurbishment at Disney World's Hollywood Studios theme park, with the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closing to the public this week.

The Vekoma-manufactured ride first opened in July 1999 to great fanfare. It sees guests race through Los Angeles with the rock band Aerosmith as they try to make it to their concert on time. Five separate audio scores are synchronised to the ride and played through a 32,000-watt audio system with over 900 speakers.

Expected to reopen sometime over the summer, “this rocktastic attraction will resume its super-stretch limo rides in summer 2023,” said Disney.
