A new attraction has opened its doors inside the Rockefeller Center, with the New York landmark now offering visitors a chance to recreate one of the most iconic images in history - Lunch Atop a Skyscraper.

Called ‘The Beam’, the attraction is part of the Rockefeller Center observation deck and sees visitors strapped onto a beam and lifted 12ft (3.7m) into the air. There, they pose to recreate the famous photo, taken of workers in 1932 taking a break during construction of the skyscraper by sitting on a beam high above the ground.

“The Beam is a part of Rockefeller Center’s top-to-bottom reimagination that will dramatically enhance the visitor experience at the iconic observation deck, which offers the city’s best unobstructed views of its most famous landmarks,” said a statement.

“After visiting Top of the Rock Observation Deck, visitors can spend time exploring the reimagined, iconic landmark infused with the same ambition and creativity of the people who built this ‘city within a city’ nearly 100 years ago.”
