An iconic British rollercoaster is about to reopen to the public following a complete track replacement, with Nemesis Reborn opening to the public for the new season at Alton Towers starting March 16.

The ride has endured for 30 years at the Merlin-operated park, with the ride undergoing a complete retheming alongside a replacement of the 716m (2,350ft) of track. Centred around the Nemesis monster, the revamped coaster features more than 100m (330ft) of hand-crafted tentacles, with the ride’s trains also replaced alongside the addition of immersive storytelling elements.

“As the final finishing touches take place, we are beyond excited to open the doors to Alton Towers Resort on March 16 so visitors can enjoy the heart-pounding thrills of Nemesis Reborn for themselves,” said Bianca Sammut, divisional director at Alton Towers.

“At Alton Towers, we’re devoted to creating unrivalled experiences for our guests. The original Nemesis rollercoaster set a very high bar. But with Nemesis Reborn we’re confident we have raised that even higher.”

Nemesis travelled over 800,000 miles in its original incarnation, carrying more than 52 million people.
