Germany’s Tropical Islands waterpark to invest €25m in new hotel development

Tropical Islands, one of the world’s largest waterparks, is planning to invest €25m (US$27.3m, £22m) into a new 500-bedroom onsite hotel.

Tropical Islands, one of the world’s largest waterparks, is planning to invest €25m (US$27.3m, £22m) into a new 500-bedroom onsite hotel.

Expected to open in early 2024, the modular accommodation will be built offsite and will arrive in the summer to be installed at the German attraction within two months.

Operator Parques Reunidos has recruited Volumetric Building Companies (VBC) to develop the hotel.

“The use of an offsite manufacturing solution for the guestrooms will significantly reduce disruption to our existing operations and guests during the build phase,” said Wouter Dekkers, corporate development director at Parques Reunidos.

“The hotel’s modular construction will also have much less environmental impact – fewer vehicle movements through the park, less material waste, and the reduced carbon footprint of the steel structure.”
