Fun Spot America to break ground on new rollercoaster

Work on the new ArieForce One rollercoaster at the Fun Spot America theme park in Atlanta, Georgia, will commence today (January 6) following a groundbreaking ceremony.

Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), the US$13 m (€11.5 m, £9.6 m) steel coaster is scheduled to open later this year.

It will stand 154 ft (47m) tall and will send riders down a 3,400 ft (1,000 m) track, featuring a 146 ft (45 m) drop and four inversions, reaching speeds of up to 64 mph.

The ride will also feature a themed queue line inspired by John Arie Sr's childhood passion for aviation.

“The addition of ArieForce One is a huge milestone for our company and the first of many new Marque rides and attractions yet to come to the Fayetteville park,” said Fun Spot CEO John Arie Jr.

“ArieForce One is a tribute to my father’s passion for flying, and with all of the airtime moments and weightlessness this RMC coaster provides"
