Disneyland Paris renames park ahead of €2bn expansion

Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris is no more after the company announced it was rebranding the park Disney Adventure World, also announcing new attraction and experiences alongside a ‘fresh creative vision’

Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris is no more after the company announced it was rebranding the park Disney Adventure World.

Disneyland Paris is currently in the middle of a major overhaul which is seeing the entire theme park and resort experience expanded and reinvigorated through a €2bn (US$2.1bn, £1.7bn) investment.

Coming alongside a “fresh creative vision”, the newly-christened Disney Adventure World will nearly double in size, with a variety of new attractions and Disney IPs set to feature.

“Today, we are changing the story of Walt Disney Studios Park, evolving from “how it’s done” soundstages to celebratory theatres and adventures that come to life in immersive worlds,” said Tom Fitzgerald, Walt Disney Imagineering chief storytelling executive and senior creative executive for Disneyland Paris.

“These fully realised adventure worlds will become the focus of the park’s new identity and appear as realms that guests discover as they navigate deeper within the park and are invited to participate in adventures inspired by our most beloved stories.”

The park will officially change its name alongside the opening of World of Frozen, a new immersive area dedicated to the Disney hit Frozen.

Joining Worlds of Pixar and Marvel Avengers Campus, World of Frozen will border Adventure Bay - a lake and promenade with themed gardens and a new attraction based on Tangled called Raiponce Tangled Spin. Adventure Bay will also serve as an entertainment stage with a 360-degree viewing area. It will be fitted with the latest technologies to provide water-based entertainment, complete with fountains, music, lights and special effects.

As part of the park’s rebranding, Disney’s Imagineers are also reimagining the entrance, turning it into a “glamorous film premiere in the heart of Hollywood”. After passing through the turnstiles, guests will be “transported into a vibrant, contemporary open-air movie studio before becoming special guests of a glamorous film premiere in the heart of Hollywood on a starry night”. Renamed World Premiere, the new entrance will open in spring 2025.

In addition to the announced expansion plans, Disney’s Imagineering team is currently finalising a yet-to-be-revealed immersive world, which the park says will enhance the appeal of Disney Adventure World for years to come.

The wider Disneyland Paris resort is also undergoing an overhaul, with an entertainment lineup including the Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland musical performance, and an evening experience at the Worldwide Engineering Brigade at Avengers Campus.

“Embracing a transformation that involves the overhaul of more than 90% of Walt Disney Studios Park since its debut in 2002, we're unveiling a fresh creative vision that has completely redefined our second gate,” said Natacha Rafalski, Disneyland Paris president.

“With our commitment to pushing the boundaries of immersion and innovation, we're crafting breathtaking new experiences and spectacular moments at Disney Adventure World that will resonate more than ever with our guests. It’s set to offer unique adventures in immersive worlds, serving as a perfect complement to Disneyland Park.”
