The car of former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean that saved the driver’s life following a fiery crash is set to be the centrepiece of a new touring exhibition starting next month.
Debuting in Madrid, Spain, next month before a worldwide tour, ‘F1: The Exhibition’ will debut on March 24 at IFEMA Madrid.
Grosjean, who now races in IndyCar, famously crashed his Haas F1 car during the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, with the driver trapped for 28 seconds after colliding with the track wall at high speed. He would miraculously emerge from the flaming inferno with only minor burns thanks to the safety equipment in the car and on his person.
“The chassis is still in one piece, the halo is there and, apart from the damage and burn, it is still as it should be,” said Grosjean.
“I guess that saved my life.”
The car shell is far from the only offering in the exhibition, however. Featuring audio-visual spectaculars and curated displays, the show will offer a journey through the world of F1. Split over six rooms, each will offer a unique perspective on the story of Formula 1. Production company Round Room Studios is behind the spectacle.
"We are thrilled that this imaginative and immersive exhibition will debut in Madrid in March 2023,” said Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of F1. “I know it will become a must-see experience for every F1 fan.”
