The former home of British King, Edward VIII, will be opened to the public for the first time when it opens next year as a museum.
Coinciding with the Paris Olympics, the run-down villa is set to undergo a multi-million euro renovation after Paris city council signed the villa over to a charitable foundation committed to preserving and promoting French heritage.
Featuring 14 rooms, work on the villa will take around a year, with a new heating system, upgrades to meet modern health and safety standards, a cafe and a restaurant all to be built on-site. Admission will be free.
Edward VIII created a then-scandal in British society after abdication in 1936 to live a peaceful life out of the spotlight with his American wife, Wallis Simpson. They lived at the property from 1953 until their deaths - Edward in 1972 and Wallis in 1986.
