A collection of 42 eight-foot-tall giraffe statues have popped up around the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, with the installation declared a ‘celebration of nature’ by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS).
Partnered with Wild in Art, RZSS, which operates Edinburgh Zoo, has installed the ‘Giraffe About Town’ trail and art installation, which aims to help people rediscover the city, boost the local economy and educate people about conservation.
“Edinburgh Zoo was overwhelmed by the support we received from the community during the pandemic,” said Ben Supple, director of engagement and business development at RZSS. “We reached record levels of members during Covid, and this is a small way for us to give back.”
