Disney has been named one of the most admired companies in the world, with the operator ranking high in the annual list from Fortune.
Ranking fifth overall and retaining its position as the top-ranked media and entertainment company for the 19th consecutive year, Disney earned top marks in a number of areas, including innovation; people management; use of corporate assets; social responsibility; quality of management; financial soundness; long-term investment value; quality of products/services; and global competitiveness.
The annual “World’s Most Admired Companies” study compiles a list of the 1,500 top companies from across the world - including the 1,000 largest US companies by revenue and non-US companies in the Fortune 500 database with revenues of US$10bn or more.
Consulting firm Korn Ferry then surveyed executives, directors and analysts from these companies, asking them to rate enterprises in their respective industries on nine criteria.
Apple ranked number one on the list, with the tech giant followed by Amazon, Microsoft, Pfizer and then Disney.
