Variety says that Mark Bozon, a top gaming executive from Apple, has been named Disney’s new senior creative leader for its cross-divisional Next Generation Storytelling initiative - something that includes the company’s ‘metaversal’ ambitions.
Bozon announced on May 20th via Twitter that he would be leaving Apple after more than 12 years with the company, stating that he was heading to “an absolute dream job’.
He would later tweet: “I’m headed to Disney! Beyond thrilled to work with the best and brightest creative minds in the world. What an absolute dream come true. As a lifelong fan, I’m humbled and excited to get started!”
Now revealed as VP of Next Generation Storytelling creative experiences, Bozon will be responsible for leading the creative vision for the group and turning that strategy into executable plans. With Apple, he most recently served as games creative director for the Apple Arcade game subscription service.
While seemingly only digital in job title, Disney categorises the term metaverse as a strategy for next-generation storytelling. This could well fall under the parks category, with Disney placing a focus on creating “new canvases for storytelling and audience engagement” spanning digital, physical and virtual experiences.
