Disney is one step closer to realising it’s DisneylandForward plans for its Disneyland resort in California, US, after the Anaheim Planning Commission moved to recommend the proposal to Anaheim City Council (ACC) at a meeting on March 11.
The DisneylandForward proposal will see Disney invest at least US$1.5bn (€1.4bn, £1.2bn) in the Anaheim resort over the coming decade, with plans including new attractions and themed lands as well as hotels and visitor facilities.
If approved Disney will need to invest almost US$130m (€119m, £102m) in the surrounding area with US$90m (€82m, £70m) earmarked for the purchase of sections of several local roads as well as infrastructure improvements, such as parking facilities, pedestrian bridges and walkways and resort road works.
A further US$30m (€27m, £23m) will be spent on affordable housing in Anaheim, while US$8m (€7m, £6m) will be invested in local parks.
The ACC will meet in May to discuss the plans.
