The Disney World Resort in Florida, US, will donate US$1.5m (€1.4m, £1.23m) to 19 local non-profit organisations that make positive changes to the community, the company has revealed,
According to Disney, each of the Disney Grant recipients carry out important work to support Florida residents, with the organisations working to combat issues such as homelessness and hunger, as well as implementing education and workforce development programmes and backing the arts.
“Florida has been our home for more than half a century and each organisation receiving a grant is doing amazing work for our community,” said Rena Langley, senior VP of communications and public affairs at Disney World.
“This will help them continue making big differences and is another step forward in our long history of giving back to those around us.”
Disney Grant recipient Terrance Hunter, CEO of Central Florida Community Arts, added: “It’s an incredibly privilege to be a Disney Grant recipient. It’s one of the biggest votes of confidence I think we could receive.”
