Coney Island’s Luna Park in New York, US, is about to undergo a major expansion, with plans to add three new attractions to the historic theme park.
Two of the new attractions will intertwine, with a rollercoaster called Tony’s Express and a log flume ride called Leti’s Treasure.
The two rides are designed to pay homage to Coney Island rides of the 19th Century, as well as Zamperla’s family, who own Luna Park through their company, Central Amusement International (CAI). The rides themselves are named after the late Antonio and Letizia Zamperla, the grandparents of CAI’s president and CEO Alessandro Zamperla.
As part of the expansion, Luna Park will also introduce a 50ft (15m) Sky Chaser Ropes Course and pedestrian plazas that will increase the size of the park by 50%, using land that has been vacant for almost half a century.
