A collection of 80 mega theme parks in China hosted a combined 7.57 million visitors in 2022 with revenues totalling US$2.13bn (€1.95bn, £1.73bn) during that year.

The results come from a report released by the Institute for Theme Park Studies in China and covers 80 of the country’s 82 major parks, 24 of which belong to Fantawild.

With Covid-related closures still affecting many operations, 2022 was a tough year for China’s theme parks. Despite a visitor decline, however, new openings helped China’s theme parks to record overal revenue growth

According to the report, among all the mega theme parks in China, Shanghai Disney Resort hosted the most visitors, while Universal Beijing Resort reported the highest revenue.
