A second giant cruise ship is currently being built in China, with the vessel expected to be completed by March 2026.

The China State Shipbuilding-backed Waigaoqiao is behind the project, which is currently 22 percent completed.

Once complete the ship will be longer and heavier than the first large domestically-produced cruise ship called Adora Magic City, which debuted last July. The vessel will have 2,144 staterooms with a total length of 1,119ft (341m).

As China further develops its cruise manufacturing industry, its goal is to compete against established European shipbuilders, Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Fincantieri, and the two Meyer shipyards, which are the only yards in the world building large cruise ships.
