Chicago Museum of Science and Industry welcomes Universal Creative's David Woody as vice president and chief creative officer

Former Universal, DreamWorks and Warner Bros creative David Woody has set his sights on a new venture after being named vice president and chief creative officer for the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry

Woody rejoins MSI after leaving the organisation in 2013

David Woody is joining Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry (MSI), after being named the institution's vice president and chief creative officer.

Moving from his role as senior creative director at Universal Creative, Woody has significant pedigree within the attractions and themed entertainment sectors, having worked for Universal, DreamWorks, Warner Bros and more, over the course of 30 years, most recently working on Universal’s upcoming Epic Universe Resort project in Orlando, Florida and the recently-opened Universal Beijing Resort in China.

Joining MSI also represents a homecoming for Woody, who spent a third of his career at the museum with a decade of experience in directing exhibit design and development.

Working at the museum between October 2003 and October 2013, Woody oversaw the creation of exhibitions such as U-505 Submarine, Science Storms and YOU! The Experience and created popular temporary exhibits including Smart Home: Green and Wired. During his time there he also helped lead capital renewal projects and museum-wide initiatives that improved the guest experience, such as digital ticketing, wayfinding and a show quality standards programme across all public areas of the building.

In his new role, Woody will oversee the design and development of the next generation of exhibitions for MSI, as well as innovative new experiences that “speak to our future?.

"It's exciting to return to MSI as the museum is taking a fresh look at its role in the community and the critical importance science plays in our world," said Woody.

"I'm looking forward to bringing my passion for experiential storytelling to Chicago's diverse audiences."
