The Paleozoological Museum of China (PMC), Asia’s largest natural science museum, has opened in the city of Baoding in North China’s Hebei Province.

The Paleozoological Museum of China (PMC), Asia’s largest natural science museum, has opened in the city of Baoding in North China’s Hebei Province.

Spanning more than 80,000 sq m (861,112 sq ft), the museum is themed around nature and evolution and features more than 6,000 exhibits.

Items on display include the world’s only complete skeleton of the Chinese velociraptor and the world’s longest and largest individual horse skull.

Exhibits also include a preserved pterosaur egg and ‘precious’ fossil specimens from Beijing.

The PMC was designed by Chinese architect Wang Shu, who was inspired by the cultural heritage of a local, ancient city.

“The Paleozoological Museum of China will become a landmark building in Baoding, serving as a cultural salon in the city that showcases its cultural texture,” said museum project manager Gao Tianwei.
