Three anime-inspired robot “sisters” have been developed to serve and entertain customers at a café in Tokyo, Japan.
The café, located in the Akihabara area of Tokyo - “the undisputed centre of anime culture in Japan” - sees the three anime robots welcome customers and guide them to their table, later taking their orders via QR code.
The robots were developed by the team behind MaSiRo project - short for Maid Apprentice Substantiating Ideal Robot. MaSiRo project is sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and was chosen as a suitable challenger for the Innovation Program of the department.
