Luxury cruise operator Mundy Cruising has said that use of artificial intelligence (AI) will “unlock a host of developments in ship design and on-board experience”.
According to the company, the shape of ships will change as AI finds the “most efficient design”, while carbon-neutral power will be incorporated and controlled in “ways never before considered possible”.
Enhancing the guest experience, AI technology could use a virtual concierge to “respond in conversational language to fulfill requests such as restaurant opening times, menu choices and shore excursion availability”, while design will focus on panoramic views, open decks and “tools for exploration”.
“This enhancement of the human connection in addition to predicted behaviours will elevate the level of luxury on board and allow guests to be delighted with something totally new out of left field,” said Edwina Lonsdale, managing director of Mundy Cruising. “Authentic interactions, extraordinary surprises, and experiences that take you out of your comfort zone will be key to the new luxury.”
