Plans to insert a 5G mast near Edinburgh Castle have been called “damaging” to the iconic Scottish heritage site.
The 17m (56ft) structure to be built on Johnston Terrace - a road that travels beneath the castle - will not spoil the view, according to mobile network Three, which has branded the mast as “vital”.
But the Cockburn Association - Scotland’s oldest conservation charity - is among 160 objectors.
“A mast would visually damage it (Edinburgh Castle) and therefore damage the context of Edinburgh,” said association director Terry Levinthal, speaking to the BBC. “An alternative solution is needed as this is unacceptable.”
