WATCH: Julie Kline on ADG, EpicSurf and company’s development pipeline

ADG’s Julie Kline speaks to Planet Attractions on everything the company has to offer, including the upcoming US$400m Okana development in Oklahoma

As a leading waterpark developer and supplier in the US and beyond, Aquatic Development Group (ADG) has a lot to offer.

A company that started in the 1950s as a commercial pool contracting business, ADG now offers planning, engineering, manufacturing and construction services for waterpark, resort and surf park developments across the world. ADG also offers its EpicSurf product, which creates a customised surf experience tailored to each and every guest based on skill level.

The company also has a number of major projects in the pipeline, with the US$400m (€380m, £328.2m) Okana among its most notable.

Unveiled in 2021 by the Chickasaw Nation and expected to open in 2025, the development in Oklahoma, US, will include a riverfront hotel, spa, an outdoor adventure lagoon, amphitheatre, indoor waterpark, restaurants, a Native American marketplace and retail outlets.

The waterpark itself will sit across 10,000sq m (107,600sq ft). However, ADG’s involvement sees it not only design and supply both the indoor waterpark and the outdoor adventure lagoon and activity pools, but also contribute throughout the master planning and design process for the entire resort.

Julie Kline, marketing manager for ADG and EpicSurf, spoke to Planet Attractions about the project and more as the company builds to what is looking to be a very successful 2024 and beyond.

Tell us about yourself, ADG and EpicSurf

“My name is Julie Kline. I'm the marketing manager at Aquatic Development Group and Epic Surf.

ADG is the leading designer and builder of waterparks in North America, and for over 50 years we've been making our own wave equipment in-house.

We've been selling wave systems all over the world with 550 installations globally, and we're continuing to look to build that market further.

Epic Surf is our latest product innovation. It's a deep water standing wave, surf technology, and we announced three projects just last week, one coming to Canada, one coming to Saudi Arabia and one coming to Texas. So we're very excited.”

How does EpicSurf work

“Epic Surf is a deep water standing wave, which means that it has an adjustable wave height. You can rapidly change from two to five feet, so you can use real surfboards and people can get the experience of surfing in a landlocked area.”

What upcoming projects are exciting you?

“One project we're extremely excited about on the design build side of our business is Okana.

It's going to be a massive US$400m project in Oklahoma City with an indoor waterpark, outdoor area and a hotel convention centre.

We're very proud to be doing the design, build work, supplying the equipment and also running some construction management support.”
