The UK’s national tourism board VisitBritain/VisitEngland is to open a new head office in Birmingham.
VisitBritain/VisitEngland is a non-departmental public body, funded by the UK’s Department for Culture, Media & Sport, that encourages people to visit and holiday in the UK.
Previously headquartered in London, the board is currently seeking office space in Birmingham city centre, with the new hub expected to open in April 2024.
The move has been attributed to Birmingham’s “excellent transport links, broad talent pool and good office space,” and comes after several government departments and private sector companies relocated to the region from London.
VisitBritain/VisitEngland has said that it will retain a presence in the British capital so it can maintain essential relationships with key government and industry stakeholders based in the UK.
"We are excited about the opportunities and perspectives that having our headquarters in Birmingham will bring, as we continue our work to drive the economic benefits from tourism across the nations and regions,” said VisitBritain / VisitEngland CEO Patricia Yates.
