At this year’s IAAPA Expo, Vekoma will unveil a “unique and surprising” new rollercoaster in partnership with Mexican resort developer; Grupo Vidanta.
The company will introduce the ride in a press conference, taking place on the Vekoma stand (Booth 5124) at 2:10 pm on November 19.
Few details are currently known about the attraction, however, it will launch at the Vidanta World theme park in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, and, according to Vekoma, will offer a thrilling and highly-themed ride experience set in a “natural and lush” landscape.
Vekoma will also announce multiple openings for 2025 during the Expo, with the rollercoaster manufacturer having several projects scheduled to launch in Canada and the US in the coming 12 months.
Among the launches is Siren’s Curse, a Tilt Coaster opening at Cedar Point in Ohio, US. Boasting a 2,966ft (904m) track, the “record-breaking” coaster will feature an innovative seesaw track element 160ft in the air, as well as several exhilarating ride elements including two 360-degree, zero gravity barrel rolls, 13 weightless airtime moments and a high-speed triple-down element with twisted and overbanked track.
Other openings include Yeti Trek, a custom family coaster opening at Santa Village in Ontario, Canada; The Flash Vertical Velocity, a Super Boomerang ride at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, US; and a Family Boomerang Rebound at Oasis at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, US.
The show comes after an unprecedented year for Vekoma, with the rollercoaster manufacturer having opened a number of family and thrill rides across the globe over the past year, with three exciting launches still to come in late 2024.
Two of the rides, a Suspended Family Coaster and Family Boomerang Racer, will open at Warner Bros. Movie World Australia in Queensland, Australia, by the end of the year.
Located in the park’s Wizard of Oz area, the rides are billed as a “unique blend of ride experiences.” The Suspended Family Coaster, called Flight of the Wicked Witch, is a thrill ride that offers an unobstructed flying sensation at high speed. Meanwhile, the Family Boomerang Racer, a more family-friendly attraction dubbed Kansas Twister, is a racing shuttle experience with forward and backward runs and several crossing and duelling
effects.
Also launching in Australia, at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, is Jungle Rush. Opening in the park’s new Rivertown area, Jungle Rush is a first-of-its-kind Switchback Coaster that offers multiple cycle paths and features the “world’s first” inclined turntable, as well as 12 airtime elements, backward and forward runs and dedicated show moments.
