Toronto Zoo has revealed the animal attraction has been hit with a cyberattack, with the staff currently trying to ascertain the effects of the probe into its systems.
In a statement, the zoo said the attack did not affect animal wellbeing or support staff but that it was “investigating the impact, if any, to our guests, members and donor records”.
“We are working with the City of Toronto’s Chief Information Security Office and third-party cyber security experts to resolve the situation and have reported it to Toronto Police Services,” said the statement.
“Unfortunately, these incidents are becoming more and more common and we are grateful we took steps over the past few years to upgrade our technology infrastructure.”
