The Themed Entertainment Association’s president, Chuck Fawcett, has released a statement to its members and the wider themed entertainment community, announcing that it stands with Ukraine as the country defends itself against the ongoing invasion led by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The statement reads:
As a global organisation for the themed entertainment industry, it is our duty to communicate and act in response to events from across the globe, and stand together, united as an association of business and of people.
Like many of you, I’ve been watching the events of the Russian invasion of Ukraine unfold and have experienced a range of emotions in response to what I am witnessing. As staunch proponents of democracy, equality and civil discourse, TEA stands in solidarity with organisations around the globe in condemning the Russian government for its unprovoked invasion and assault on Ukraine. The images and headlines of the last week have been heartbreaking and deeply disturbing, especially during a time when humankind is still reeling from the devastation and loss brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Our members bring their talents and passion for creativity, storytelling and adventure to people worldwide in order to create happy, memorable experiences that live on long after the final moment. Happiness, however, should not be a luxury. Our hearts go out to the displaced and endangered people of Ukraine as they seek the most basic human rights of safety, security and prosperity.
Until then, we can come together, contribute and offer support to those most affected. To join the global relief effort to help alleviate the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, we would encourage our members, if you are able, to consider supporting the following organisations:
Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders
MSF is conducting a range of activities in Ukraine to help people travel to health care facilities and access prescribed medications.
International Committee of the Red Cross
The Switzerland-based international organization seeks to help people affected by the conflict and support the work of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Save the Children
The London-based organisation helps deliver essential humanitarian aid to vulnerable children in Ukraine and around the world.
UN Refugee Agency
The international organization is providing emergency assistance to families in Ukraine, including cash assistance and opportunities for resettlement.
Voices of Children
The charitable foundation of this organisation is helping to provide psychological and psychosocial support to children affected by the Ukrainian conflict.
