Saudi Arabia's Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb has announced a significant increase in the country's tourism sector, with the first quarter of the year seeing numbers rise by 10%.
Al-Khateeb highlighted the substantial growth in tourist numbers, which also includes an increase in tourism spend by more than 17%.
This year, the Saudi government has set a target of US$80bn in tourism revenue, something Al-Khateeb stressed was vital as the kingdom reduces its dependency on revenue generated by oil. The country has made significant progress, investing billions into tourism, sports and attractions ventures.
