Saudi Arabia’s planned linear city, The Line, will become a global hub for the cruise industry, a senior executive behind the project has said.
The US$500bn (€474.6bn, £407.6bn) city - which will be 200m (660ft) wide, 170km (106mi) long, and 500m (1,640ft) above sea level - has been described as “civilisational revolution that puts humans first,” and seemingly the cruise industry too, according to latest reports.
“It will be a cruise hub like Fort Lauderdale in Florida or Montenegro in the Mediterranean,” said Giles Pendleton, executive director of the project.
“The Red Sea is a fantastic boating area. And we don’t have tornadoes, we don’t have hurricanes. It’s very stable with great weather and beautiful crystal clear waters.”
