Forrec has been acquired by Japan’s Sansei Technologies, with the amusement ride and equipment manufacturer company purchasing a majority share in the renowned experience design firm.
The acquisition of Forrec by Sansei - a major move in the attractions and experience industries - will allow both companies to benefit from the other in areas such as market insights, new business opportunities, and sharing design and technical expertise.
The newly-established partnership, say both companies, will better meet the evolving needs of clients in the experience design and attractions industries, with Sansei now acting as a strategic partner for Forrec that can invest in the company's growth and help it access new markets. Sansei’s vast experience in creating rides, attractions, immersive experiences and performance installations also means that Forrec can integrate these new technologies into its design and planning work.
“Sansei and Forrec’s shared focus on our employees, relationships and industry partners has been key to our success,” said Cale Heit, Forrec’s CEO.
“As partners, our shared priorities are a commitment to collaborate and create new opportunities and experiences for our clients, their guests, and our talent. This presents an amazing opportunity to grow and create some of the world’s most successful leisure and experience destinations.”
In a release, both companies said that the partnership is a “forward-looking and strategic response to emerging new technologies and increasing guest expectations”. They add that this expectation has led to “greater demands from clients – who are creating more dynamic, more complex and more integrated projects than ever before”.
Following the acquisition, Forrec will continue to operate as a separate entity. With existing management maintaining daily operations. A new board made up of Sansei and Forrec team members will be formed.
“Forrec’s people and their outstanding storytelling and design capability and our expertise in amusement rides complement each other,” said Noboru Rachi, CEO of Sansei. “This allows us to provide more solutions for our clients’ evolving needs and to create unforgettable guest experiences.”
