Fun Spot America Atlanta is celebrating the launch of its largest attraction to date - the US$13m (€12.2m, £10.75m) steel coaster hybrid, Arie Force One.

Opened today (March 31), the Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) -manufactured rollercoaster is one of the most exciting additions to the Fayetteville, Georgia-based theme park in its entire history.

The ride - a first-of-its-kind coaster - stands 154ft (47m) tall and sends riders down a 3,400ft (1,000m) track, featuring a 146ft (45m) drop and four inversions.

Reaching speeds of up to 64mph (103kmph), AireForce One was first announced during the IAAPA Expo 2021 and is designed to replicate the feeling of being a pilot in a fighter jet. To achieve this, among its features are an 83-degree first drop, and the largest Zero-G stall in the country.

“ArieForce One is a dream, a wish, and a project that has been years in the making,” said John Arie Jr, president and CEO of Fun Spot America.

“For 25 years Fun Spot has been delivering safe, clean, fun to families of all ages. Now, we are ready to bring this incredible coaster to our Fun Spot America Atlanta guests. It’s already exciting coaster fans and thrill-seekers from all over the globe as they prepare to visit us to experience what it feels like to soar through the sky.”

The ride also features a themed queue line and is inspired by FunSpot founder John Arie Sr's love of aviation. Falcon’s Creative helped with the design of the train, which sports a sliver-pointed design inspired by a fighter jet.

“Arie Force One is a tribute to my father and his passion for flying,” said Arie Jr.

“We will have you believing you’re travelling into space with all of the airtime moments and weightlessness this RMC coaster provides.”
