Media-based attraction and immersive experience creator Attraktion! has debuted a new offering based on the Angry Birds IP.

Developed in partnership with Angry Birds creator Rovio, the immersive experience first launched at last month’s IAAPA Expo Europe and was created by Attraktion! for its Playneo game system.

Called Pigvasion, players are sent on a mission to help Angry Birds flock leader Red recover a set of stolen eggs from a group of pigs, with the immersive world resembling that of the Angry Birds movie and offering a fast-paced experience scaled up from the mobile version for entertainment venues.

A free-roaming concept, Playneo, which is configurable for up to 16 people, sees players stand in the centre of a room with immersive 270° projected environments covering the space. Playneo also utilises Attraktion!’s Active Shield technology - a wireless hand held device which players use during gameplay to trigger events and score points.

“The Angry Birds IP is perfect for the Playneo experience, with the high-octane game from Rovio brought to life for groups to experience together,” said Markus Beyr, Attraktion! CEO.

“The Playneo interactive gaming universes are taking out-of-home group gaming to the next level through shared immersive experiences, rather than VR headsets. This enhanced connection is what creates memorable engagements for guests and encourages them to keep coming back to beat their previous scores and unlock the next part of the thrilling adventure.”

In addition to Pigvasion, Playneo offers a library of titles, including Jelly Attack and Dino Dig, with more games in development. The Angry Birds offering is set to launch at inaugural venues in the US, Austria, Germany and the UAE.

“We’re thrilled to launch a new action packed game with Attraktion! which allows fans to step into the environments from the popular Angry Birds movie,” said Katri Chacona, head of Brand Licensing at Rovio.

“It’s been a fantastic collaboration with focus on properly representing the brand, perfecting the finest details and elements to deliver a high quality and one-of-a-kind experience.”
