Parque Warner’s highly-anticipated Batman-themed coaster to launch in May

Europe’s answer to the Velocicoaster has its opening date, with the highly-anticipated Batman-themed Gotham City Escape set to launch on May 13

Parque Warner Madrid’s new Batman rollercoaster has its launch date, with the highly-anticipated Gotham City Escape set to become one of Spain’s top attractions when it opens to the public on May 13.

Possibly one of the coolest-looking new ride cars you’re going to see in 2023, the Nolan-era Batmobile-style trains alone are enough to get the motors of any DC fan running.

Designed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and P&P Projects, guests will experience onboard audio, music and dialogues to immerse themselves in Gotham City and the DC Universe.

Throughout the ride experience, visitors will encounter locations such as Wayne Manor, the Batcave, Robinson Park and the Gotham City Subway, while iconic characters including Batman, The Joker, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are represented both physically and digitally in the attraction.

Intamin is behind the ride itself, with the €20m (US$22.1m, £17.6m) steel launch coaster featuring four inversions through 3,313ft (1,010m) of track.

Reaching speeds of up to 64.6mph (104kmph) the Batman-themed ride will reach heights of 147.6ft (45m) with features including a top hat, two corkscrews, a vertical roll back, Zero-G Stall and reverse sidewinder. The 1 minute 51-second ride experience also features two LSM launches.

Another thing to get rollercoaster enthusiasts drooling is the ride’s comparison to Universal Studios Orlando’s incredibly popular Velocicoaster, which shares the same manufacturer.

“Set in Gotham City, the new attraction will feature a spectacular theming that will come out of the Wayne's Mansion,” said the park.

“Its incredible 45-metre-high top hat makes it a unique and innovative attraction for the bravest visitors.

“The new coaster will be the most amazing experience that visitors will be able to experience at Parque Warner.”
