PIF’s Seven announces SAR1bn entertainment destination for Saudi city of Tabuk

Another mega project has been announced for Saudi Arabia, with the PIF’s Seven announcing plans for a SAR1bn entertainment destination in the city of Tabuk

Development company Saudi Entertainment Ventures (Seven) has announced a more than SAR1bn (US$266.4m, €244.7m, £215.7m) project to build a state-of-the-art entertainment destination in the city of Tabuk.

Designed by architects Gensler, the 72,500sq m (780,000sq ft) development has been imagined as a village between gardens and recreational spaces.

Entering under a glass canopy inspired by local arts and traditions, visitors will find a number of attractions, including a family entertainment centre (FEC), a second junior FEC and a Discovery-branded indoor edutainment centre. Mattel’s Hot Wheels IP will also feature, with an e-karting experience, while a 12-hole indoor golf course will use new technology to tailor individual experiences. A bowling alley and a cinema are also included, as are retail, food and beverage outlets.

Part of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Seven has already started construction on the development, which will aim to offer premier entertainment options in Tabuk, transforming the region with its wide range of entertainment experiences.

“We have appreciated the city’s rich culture and heritage in the development of our entertainment destination, infusing it with Tabuk’s unique features and ensuring that our destination will cater to the needs of all in Tabuk,” said Seven chairman Abdullah AlDawood.

“Our entertainment destination gates will support the local economy, create job opportunities for the city’s people, and enrich the lives of those living in and visiting Tabuk.”

The investment is part of the PIF’s wider 2030 Vision plan to develop tourist and entertainment destinations across Saudi Arabia, making the kingdom more appealing to international visitors as it attempts to reduce its economy’s reliance on oil while raising the quality of life for citizens and residents.

As part of this, Seven is investing SAR50bn (US$13.3bn, €12.84bn, £11.07bn) across 21 integrated entertainment destinations in the country with more than 150 innovative attractions to open across 14 different Saudi cities.

“Our commitment to Seven is to deliver world-class entertainment facilities,” said Fakher AlShawaf, group CEO of Albawani Holding, which has been awarded the development contract for the project.

“The entertainment sector is growing rapidly in the kingdom, and we aspire to support it to become a social and economic catalyst.”
