A new attraction combining food, culture and tourism has broken ground in Chongqing, with the Dezhuang Hot Pot Manor now under construction in the Chinese city.
Popular among Chinese emperors, the hot pot is a meal that dates back to the year 200 AD and comprises a broth traditionally served inside a large metal pot.
Dezhuang - a leading company of the Szechuan food industry - is behind the project, which will see an investment of CN¥20m (US$2.8m, €2.6m, £2.2m) in the first phase of a three-phase development.
The first phase of development sees the construction of a cultural space for leisure, art, feast, creativity, and of course, hot pots.
The attraction is expected to open to the public in August 2023, with around 15,000 visitors a month forecast for the food attraction.
