German rollercoaster manufacturer Maurer Rides has launched a new interactive snow coaster.
Called Spike Snow Coaster, the innovative ride is aimed at ski and mountain resorts and is a variation of the company’s award-winning Spike Coaster.
Capable of accommodating 660 riders per hour, the rollercoaster stands at 72 ft (22 m) tall with a 1,804 ft (550 m) track.
Ride elements include a non-inverted loop and a reverse ride, as well as several tight curves and several moments of air time.
Its two-seater ride vehicles, themed to look like Ski-Doo snowmobiles, are equipped with the company’s patented Spike drive technology, which puts each rider in control of their speed and is capable of delivering maximum speeds of 50 mph (80 km/h).
“The Spike principle allows us to adapt the ride’s layout perfectly to the terrain, so we can easily integrate this attraction without major interventions,” said Maurer Rides’ business development director Torsten Schmidt.
