IMPS, owner of The Smurts IP, has partnered with Mack Rides and Lagotronics Projects to create a new interactive dark ride.
Called The Smurfs Gameplay Theater, the attraction combines an ‘endless’ ride system, immersive media, decorative set pieces, special and audio-visual effects, interactive technologies and gaming elements.
Billed as an “exciting story-driven experience” the ride transports guests through a series of scenes set in The Smurfs universe and featuring beloved characters, with each turn of the ride vehicle immersing riders in a new Smurf-themed world.
Guests, armed with interactive Smurf-themed devices, can collect points by hitting targets and even reveal the new Smurf worlds themselves.
The ride concept was created by Mack Rides while Lagotronics Projects was responsible for developing the interactive elements.
Aimed at theme parks and family entertainment centres (FECs), The Smurfs Gameplay Theater attractions is available in three sizes and is capable of accommodating between 498 and 1224 riders per hour.
“With a brand awareness of 95% worldwide and its key values like family, fun and creativity, The Smurfs is the perfect IP to create family-friendly attractions like The Smurfs Gameplay Theater,” said Mack Rides’ Dirk Engelhardt and Lagotronics Projects Tom Bouwens.
