Daleks, the Tardiss and other icons of Doctor Who have appeared at the Roath Basin in Cardiff Bay, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic British sci-fi series, with LCI Productions delivering a water projection spectacular for the event.

Taking place across four days, starting on Doctor Who Day on November 23, LCI worked with BBC Wales to deliver the nighttime event, which featured highlights from the last 60 years of IP, including The Doctor, companions and foes of the Time Lord, plus an exclusive shot featuring upcoming fifteenth Doctor Ncuti Gatwa.

With a narrative created by former Doctor Who script editor Gary Russell, the content was produced by the BBC, with LCI productions giving guidance on how to optimise the content for use on the water screen.

“A water show in Cardiff Bay is the perfect way to celebrate 60 years of this iconic sci-fi series,” said Rob Paul, design director from LCI Productions. “All the characters that people know and love are projected larger than life as 3D holograms floating in the middle of the lake. The show is sure to both surprise and enchant audiences of all ages, with the accompanying audio score fully immersing guests in the experience.”
