The Gardaland Resort in Italy is set to welcome a new attraction inspired by Sony Pictures’ multi-billion-dollar movie franchise Jumanji in the coming year.

Scheduled to open in spring 2023, the new attraction, called Jumanji – The Labyrinth, is described as a ‘wild jungle maze, a labyrinth and a tunnel infested with snakes’ and will be located next to Jumanji – The Adventure, the park’s family-friendly dark ride, which opened in 2021.

The attraction is the latest development in an exclusivity agreement between Gardaland operator Merlin Entertainments and Sony Pictures. The partnership will see the creation of Jumanji-themed attractions, immersive lands, retail outlets and hotel rooms at Merlin resorts in Europe, the UK and North America, with the world’s first Jumanji immersive land to open at Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey, UK, in spring 2023.

“Continuing to bring the Jumanji world to life for our guests is an absolute dream come true for our numbers of visitors at the resort, and even more fun for our award-winning creative teams of Merlin Magic Makers,” said Scott O’Neil, CEO of Merlin Entertainments.

“Gardaland just got even better thanks to our longstanding partners at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“Increasingly, brands are looking for ways to connect with their audiences by bringing those films/stars to life and Merlin Entertainments is the one unencumbered theme parks and attractions business with the scale needed to connect with fans around the world.”
