A new theme park is under development in Maharashtra, India, with a total of five such parks set to come up in the region following the development.
Based on the life story of the warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is behind the RS500m (US$6.6m, €5.6m, £4.8m) theme park development, which will be followed by similar attractions in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Nagpur and Amravati.
MTDC officials said a consultant will be appointed following a tender process, with a masterplan prepared for a theme park in each of the five cities. A provision of RS2.5bn (US$33m, €28m, £24m) has been set aside by the state government for the project.
