At this year’s IAPPA Expo Europe, experience design firm FORREC will be on hand to showcase several of its latest projects, including the brand new Legoland Korea Resort in Gangwon Province, South Korea.
Opened in May 2022, Legoland Korea Resort is the first Legoland property to be built on an island.
Spanning 28,000 sq m (301,390 sq ft), the park features seven themed zones offering more than 40 attractions including interactive rides and live shows.
FORREC provided several key services for the attraction, including master planning, creative development, design development and schematic design.
The company also worked alongside architect Kay Elliot to create the Legoland hotel. The four-storey, 154 room themed-hotel is the first to be stacked on top of the park entrance giving guests a spectacular view across the park.
Finally, FORREC collaborated with Merlin Magic Making to design and develop several of the new clusters, including Bricktopia, Brick Street and Pirate Shores.
“For over 20 years, FORREC has had a long-standing relationship with Merlin Entertainments and the Legoland brand, and we are incredibly fortunate to have them as partners,” said FORREC president and CEO Cale Heit.
“We’re honoured to be able to work with them once again on creating this magnificent, unprecedented theme park and hotel. We’re proud to have played a vital role in the creation, design and development of these new experiences and we’re excited to see guests’ reactions as they go from their hotel to thrilling rides within seconds.”
Other projects being discussed include Ba Den Mountain Resort in Cambodia, and Niagara Parks Power Station in Canada.
Ba Den Mountain Resort features five resorts anchored by a village offering attractions, dining and retail options and a Royal Garden
Ba Den Mountain Resort
A landmark tourist destination set 986 m (3,235 ft) above sea level, Ba Den Mountain Resort features five resorts anchored by a central village offering indoor attractions, dining and retail venues and a Royal Garden.
The mountain is topped by a 40 m (131 ft) statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, and a supporting museum and pagoda to attract visitors to the mountaintop.
For the project, FORREC undertook a large scope of work, creating several of its themed areas.
Niagara Parks Power Station
Opened on July 1, the Niagara Parks Power Station takes visitors 55 m (180 ft) below the historic Niagara Parks Power Station to discover the 670 m (2,200 ft) Tailrace Tunnel beneath.
Guests experience a never-before-seen underground world and Niagara’s history of hydroelectric power before emerging at a new vantage point over the Falls.
FORREC created the concept master plan and provided interpretive consultation and layout services.
