Media-based attractions designer BoldMove has unveiled WaterSlider VR - a new motion and media-based attraction that combines physical thrills with virtual reality.

Based on a life raft, the attraction can seat up to four people and one wheelchair, accessible via the back.

The life raft is integrated inside a sea container that houses all required cabling and technical components, as well as a complete light and sound system.

During the three-minute VR experience, riders will discover the hidden secrets of the deep ocean, with sunken cities and stone creatures immersing them in the underwater adventure.

"From my sailing experience, I can say that a life raft is not something you would like to use, although it's crucial for survival in case of emergency," said Benoit Cornet, CEO and Captain of Creative Minds at BoldMove, who recently embarked on a solo ocean crossing from France to the tropical island of Martinique.

"The WaterSlider VR however is safely boarded onshore and equipped with fun games and music instead of flares and whistles," he added. "The guests who are washed ashore can celebrate at the border of the ocean with tropical beach party vibes."

BoldMove says that park and leisure venue owners can integrate the WaterSlider VR in a number of configurations, combining several rafts, adding a queue line and preshow, or adjusting the theming to suit. An optional photo booth can also be installed with themed digital frames and social media outreach.

"This new attraction carries the typical BoldMove signature; a creative integration of advanced yet proven technologies for a fun and thrilling experience,” said Cornet.

“Our rides and attractions have a compact footprint, and can be easily installed and operated. WaterSlider VR also perfectly integrates or combines with our AR Hybrid Quest, an indoor or outdoor adventure trail on mobile devices which unlocks virtual portals and worlds.”
