After winning the award for best-animated feature at this year’s Oscars, Disney has announced that starting this month, Disneyland in California, US, will be celebrating the smash hit Encanto.
Kicking off on April 11, for a limited time every evening, the facade of “It’s a Small World” will feature a visual montage based on the movie’s hit song We Don’t Talk About Bruno.
The song, almost as much of an ear-worm as the Small World song itself, is the first Disney number to top the music charts since Aladdin’s A Whole New World in 1992.
Inside Small World, the visual and musical experience will use a combination of projection and lighting, featuring an art style inspired by We Don’t Talk About Bruno’s lyrics.
Like the Madrigal family’s Casita in Encanto, tiles across the Small World facade flip, turn, and rearrange themselves as one scene transitions to the next, culminating in a celebratory chorus and a nod to Bruno’s mysterious prophecy about Mirabel.
In addition to the transformation of Small World, during the day guests will also be able to meet Mirabel at Frontierland’s Zocalo Park in a location paying tribute to the Madrigal family and Colombia.
April 22 will also see the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade to Disneyland, with the reimagined experience featuring a new grand finale float that brings together stylised scenes from more than a dozen Disney and Pixar stories, including Encanto.
The Encanto celebration, says Disney, will last through the Spring.
