A new Eden Project in Morecambe is one of the major projects to receive funding as part of the British government’s Levelling Up scheme.
The proposed Lancashire eco-tourism attraction has been named as one of more than 100 projects across the UK to receive a share of £2.1bn (US$2.59bn, €2.39bn) from the Levelling Up fund.
Eden Project Morecambe will receive a £50m (US$61.8m, €57m) share of the fund, which will be used to transform the seaside town’s seafront into a sister site for the first Eden Project in St Austell, Cornwall.
The funding will cover half of the cost needed to build the highly-anticipated project.
