Canadian ride manufacturer Dynamic Attractions is set to be sold to Hong Kong-based financial services firm Promising Expert Limited (PEL) in a deal worth US$2m (€1.9m, £1.6m).
An innovator in theme park attractions since the 1960s, Dynamic Attractions had been up for sale since March after “significantly impaired cash flow” related to coaster projects and rising costs - notably the company’s new SFX coaster, which has opened to rave reviews at Ferrari Land Abu Dhabi.
According to Forbes, PEL's offer was preferred as the majority of Dynamic's business units and the majority of its employees will be retained. Filings also state that the offer “may preserve the continuation of certain going concern aspects” of its business. However, that focus may change as manufacturing equipment has not been acquired.
Among its current projects, Dynamic continues to work with Universal on Mario Kart Koopa's Challenge at the new Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Hollywood as well as two further SFX Coasters at Genting SkyWorlds in Malaysia.
