Chris Jericho rides Holiday World’s ‘The Voyage’ for new Fozzy music video

The former WWE and AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and his band Fozzy have released a new music video shot on board Holiday World’s record-holding wooden coaster ‘The Voyage’

Wrestling legend and rock star Chris Jericho recently paid a visit to Indiana’s Holiday World, with the All Elite Wrestling superstar and his band Fozzy filming a music video on-board the park’s popular Voyage rollercoaster.

The song, called ‘Sane’, was filmed at the park in the town of Santa Claus, which has been home to the Gravity Group-designed attraction since 2006.

Jericho - a multi-time world wrestling champion across multiple promotions - features prominently in the video, singing the lyrics to the song as the coaster goes around the track. The video also sees the band’s lead guitarist, Rich Ward, throw his instrument from the top of the lift hill. The video has been viewed more than 333,000 times on YouTube since its release on May 28.

“It was great working with Fozzy on this music video,” Eric Snow, chief marketing officer at Holiday World, told Planet Attractions. “We have some fans on our team, and when we were approached about the concept, it was difficult to say no.”

Creating such a performance came with a number of challenges, primarily safety.

“We worked around the clock to make sure all of the equipment on the trains was secured - running test lap after test lap before anyone ever got on the coaster,” said Snow.

“We owe enormous credit to our Safety, Attractions, Maintenance, Events, and Marketing teams, who all devoted incredible time and energy to making this video safe and successful.

“Of course, huge credit also goes to the talented production crew who agreed to every safety restriction we needed to put in place, and who pulled together such an incredible video.”

Opened in 2006 at a cost of US$8.5m (€7m, £6m), The Voyage is themed to the famous voyage of the Mayflower by Pilgrims to North America in 1620.

The ride is considered one of the world’s best wooden coasters and ranks second in length and sixth in height among this category. It features a track of 6,442ft (1,964m) and reaches a maximum height of 173ft (53m). Its 24.3 seconds of air-time is also the most produced on a wooden coaster to date and the ride features five underground tunnels - a record for wooden coasters. It was originally built to celebrate the park’s 60th anniversary.

Snow added: “To the members of Fozzy, wow! They were great to work with, and we still can’t figure out how they managed to actually sing on one of the most dynamic roller coasters on the planet!”
