A brand new dark ride has just opened its doors at French theme park and animal attraction Le Pal, with BoldMove Nation and Triotech joining forces to bring Champi'Folies to life for visitors.

Themed using BoldMove’s TooMush IP and the Smash & Reload dark ride model, riders in moving ride vehicles, score points by shooting targets and completing challenges as they make their way round the attraction.

In Champi'Folies, players try to freeze mushrooms, dubbed ‘Mushies’, as they try to escape their forest thanks to the arrival of bulldozers, only to find hostile territories as the population rapidly expands. Riders score points based on how many mushrooms they hit, with scores tallied at the end of the experience.

The collaboration between BoldMove and Triotech resulted in the creation of the ride itself, with Triotech providing the show control system and interactive technologies. Meanwhile, BoldMove worked with Polymorph on the IP, media and gameplay development for the attraction.

“We've blended physical and digital worlds to create a memorable experience, and we're proud to have worked closely with our partners to create an attraction that's truly world-class,” said Benoit Cornet, CEO of BoldMove.

“We bring the characters alive on screen, and even added artificial intelligence to personalise guest experiences. The cherry on the cake is the extensive theming we created with 3D decoration up to a real car, all of these reflecting their digital counterparts.”

The attraction is perfectly placed at Le Pal - a theme park-zoo hybrid which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary. With more than 1,000 animals in its care and a collection of 31 rides, the park is a leading attraction in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Specifically targeting families, the new Smash and Reload dark ride is well suited for Le Pal’s mainly family audience.

“Champi’Folies introduces a new ‘species’ that speaks to the heart of our visitors, who are warmly embracing these cute TooMush characters,” said Arnaud Bennet, president of Le Pal.

“It’s a pleasure to see that both young and old enjoy this immersive experience side by side in a friendly competition. The attraction offers a seamless transition between the theme and animal park, re-energising this park area with a weatherproof attraction. We’re really pleased with the cooperation, which results in a high-quality and fun attraction with rich theming.”
