Theatre fans go behind the scenes with New York’s brand new Museum of Broadway

A new museum dedicated to Broadway has opened its doors in New York City.

A new museum dedicated to Broadway has opened its doors in New York City.

Called the Museum of Broadway, the attraction in Times Square covers 26,000sq ft (2,400sq m) and details the history of theatre.

“We see it as an experiential, interactive museum that tells the story of Broadway through costumes, props and artifacts,” museum founder Diane Nicoletti told NY Times.

The space is organised chronologically, starting with Broadway’s beginnings in the mid-18th century and running to productions onstage now. A majority of the more than 1,000 objects and photographs on display are loans from individual artists, creators and producers, as well as performing arts organisations like Disney Theatrical Productions and the Public Theater.
