Plans for a major US$2bn theme park and resort development comparable to the likes of Disney and Universal are “on track” despite delays, according to the project’s developers.
Scheduled to open in 2026, American Heartland is a multi-phase development project that includes a large-scale RV park and a wider theme park and resort.
The RV part of the development has been delayed slightly on account of space issues and the fact that the land will sit on a floodplain, with part of the land needing to be resurveyed.
Plans for a hotel have also changed after finding efficiencies. The planned 300-room development will now feature 400 rooms instead.
“We're confident with the team we have. If we get rolling, we can still produce the park in time,” Kristy Adams, senior executive VP of Sales and Marketing for the project told 2 News Oklahoma.
